What Owning Your Platform Means

Owning your platform means three things:

  1. The code is yours. It lives in your GitHub account. Nobody can take it, and any developer (or AI) can work on it.
  2. The site is yours. Deployed on Vercel under your account, connected to your domain. The free tier handles most small business traffic.
  3. The data is yours. Customers, leads, orders, content — in your own Supabase database, exportable any time.

The stack you will learn: Claude/ChatGPT to build it, GitHub to store it, Vercel to host it, Supabase to run the data, Figma to design it.

Monthly cost for most businesses: $0 to $25. Compare that to your Rent Trap number.
