A call button should answer two questions before someone taps it: who will I call, and is calling the right next step? “Call Cedar Repair” is more informative than a mystery phone icon. A nearby hours line helps people decide whether to call now or use another contact method.

The free Click-to-Call Button Builder creates website code containing a phone link. It does not install the button, place calls, provide a phone number, or make someone answer. Those are separate parts of the customer experience that you can check in order.

Inspect a fictional example

Use +1 202 555 0142 in Your phone number and “Call Cedar Repair” in Button text. This number and business are fictional demonstration details. Set Button color to Blue and Size to Large.

The checked output contains href="tel:+12025550142". The visible text includes “Call Cedar Repair: (202) 555-0142.” The underlying destination keeps the country code, while the displayed number is formatted for reading. Compare both before you paste the result anywhere.

The large version uses 18-pixel text and padding around the link. The tool also supplies a plain text link and a text-message alternative. Treat each as a separate communication route. A number that accepts calls may not accept texts, so do not add the text version until you have verified that capability.

Try the example, then use your own details

Link details

Your link

Enter a phone number above and the button code appears here.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How to run it, step by step

  1. 1Enter the destination. Use the actual business line in Your phone number. Include its country code and verify who answers it.
  2. 2Choose the label. Write an informative Button text, then select Button color and Size for the page where it will appear.
  3. 3Inspect the code. Compare the tel: destination with the visible number. Copy the styled or plain version your editor supports.
  4. 4Test the installed page. Preview on a phone, inspect the call destination, then make an authorized test to your real line.

How to read what it gives you

  • The output is HTML containing a phone link. It does not install itself or place a call.
  • A tap, a connected call, and a customer inquiry are different events; do not count them as the same result.

The tool is free, it does not expire, and you can put it on your own website if you want it there. Nothing on this page is locked.

Put the button where it answers a real question

Choose a page where a conversation is useful: a service description, contact page, or estimate explanation. Place a short sentence beside the button describing what the caller can ask. For example, “Call to discuss whether we can repair your item” gives a better expectation than “Get started.”

Avoid implying that a call reserves a time or guarantees service. If your staff must inspect photos or review the request first, say that. If your phone is monitored only during business hours, display the actual hours near the button and provide an after-hours option.

Your website editor may offer a built-in button field that accepts a phone link. You can use the tool's plain tel: destination there rather than inserting the entire styled block. If you use the generated HTML, place it in an appropriate code or embed area and preview it. Pasting code into a normal paragraph field may simply display the code as text.

Check the page on a phone

Open the page where customers will see the button. Confirm that the label is readable, the number is correct, and the button is easy to reach without covering other content. Try a longer business name and narrow screen if your real label is longer than the example.

Tap the button and inspect the device's proposed call destination. A compatible phone typically hands the link to its calling application, but prompts and available applications vary. On a desktop, the visitor may need a configured calling application. Keep the number visible so someone can dial it another way.

Use your real, authorized business line for a controlled end-to-end test when you are ready. Verify that the correct line rings and that its greeting identifies the business. Do not call the fictional example number. Checking the generated code proves its formatting, not that a live business call reached the right person.

If call routing sends people to a shared team, test what happens when nobody answers. A clear voicemail with a callback expectation is part of the button's destination just as much as the phone number itself.

A visible button does not prove calls increased. If you want to evaluate use, distinguish a button tap from a completed call and a completed call from a qualified inquiry. Record those separately in whatever reporting system you already maintain.

Finish by installing one clear button and checking the actual page. The free builder is enough for that task. You do not need to buy a kit or redesign the entire website to make the business number easier to use.

Questions people actually ask

Can I use a normal website button?

Yes, if your editor supports a phone link. Use the generated tel: destination in its link setting and preview the actual page.

Will this work on a desktop?

That depends on the visitor’s configured calling applications. Keep the number visible as a fallback.

Does the text-message alternative prove my number accepts texts?

No. Test the line’s messaging capability before offering a text route.
